Lucas @ 3 months

Mr. Lucas is growing so fast!

Three months ago my husband and I were gifted with the most precious baby boy in the world. In a previous post (back in May) I asked the question "is it wrong of me to be counting down the days until my son reaches three months?" Well...today, Lucas reached three months. Now am I asking myself where has the time gone? Lucas is growing up before my eyes. He is (and will continue to be) the cutest baby alive. :) Even on the toughest days where nothing seems to be going right, I can always count on Lucas to cheer me up. His toothless grins and joyful coos pull on my heart strings and brighten my day.

Outpost Dress #1

At the beginning of the summer, I was asked by the camp's programming coordinator to help with costuming. Most of the camp's costumes for outpost are old, worn thin and are falling apart. After brushing off my skills as a seamstress (the last time I had sewn anything was in high school), I was able to come up with the dress pictured below.  It's not perfect, but I am happy with how the dress turned out.

Pictured below is the beautiful Miss Holm. She plays the city loving, wealthy and conniving Leah McAllister in the camp play. I think this dress suits the character well and looks good on Miss Holm.

Rabbit, Rabbit...

"I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength" - Philippians 4:13

As a new mom, I feel as if I never get time to myself anymore. My days are consumed with caring for Lucas and with my husband's current work schedule I feel like a single parent. This week was particularly difficult.  I started off the week with Lucas's doctor appointment. He received his first set of immunization shots on Monday.  One oral, two in the right leg and one in the left leg. By the time I got back to PSR, he had a low grade fever and his legs were sore.  The camp nurse helped me give Lucas the correct dosage of Tynole and he slept soundly though the night.

I got back to camp just in time for the staff photo. I really wanted Lucas to be a part of the photo.  However, he wasn't in the cooperative mood and I ended up taking him to bed early. I was disappointed, but it worked out for the best.  He needed to sleep. And so did I.

My husband has been extremely busy this week  preparing for camp, training the staff and finalizing the loan paperwork for our new home.  I am looking forward to having everything settled, and for my husband to be able to spend more time with his family. I've observed firsthand how hard it is to be a camp administrator and have a family. This will be my fifteenth summer at PSR. I have been employed for ten summers, been a staff volunteer for two summers and a staff brat for three. I've watched four different camp administrator come and go. I understand how stressful and demanding the job can be.  Family is set aside, second to the demands of camp. My parents, and many others are a testament to that.

I want to end on a positive note. My husband and I had a wonderful day off together. It felt amazing to get off the mountain. We dropped Lucas off with Dada and Dadi and went to see Brave. It was a cute movie. Not one of my top Disney/Pixar favorites...my favorite it still UP and Ratatouille.
