baby girl quilt

Baby quilt #2 is finished.

I had a lot of fun creating this quilt for a cousin who is about to have a baby girl. The inspiration for this quilt came from a random fabric quarter that I bought several years ago (the flower pattern).  I wanted it to be fun, feminine and colorful. I'm excited to gift this quilt and I hope the mamma to be enjoys it too.

happy 4th birthday lucas

The whole house was a buzz this morning, not only did we have a basketball game and a wedding to attend, but it was also Lucas's fourth birthday! He has been counting down the days on his calendar for weeks now. Every morning after breakfast, he would bring me his calendar. Together we would cross of another day and count out loud how many more days until his birthday. Dadi surprised Lucas with a paw patrol birthday breakfast after basketball. We partied it up with Ryder and the Pups until it was time to get ready and leave for the wedding.

disneyland

This week we took our first solo family trip to the Happiest Place on Earth, and nailed it! Lucas is finally tall enough to ride everything except Indiana Jones. My husband was most excited to introduce Lucas to Star Tours. In fact, I think deep down the success of our trip counted on Lucas loving Star Tours. It was the perfect day to go. The weather was beautiful and the park wasn't to crowded. I think the longest we waited in line was about 40 minutes.

I used the rider switch for the first time ever. Leave it to Disney to come up with more ways to make their guests happy. Waiting in line twice for the same ride is a tremendous waste of time. However, using the rider switch helped us save time and allowed for both my husband and myself to enjoy some of the bigger attractions such as Space Mountain.

Alara's loved the Finding Nemo ride. She pressed her face up against the porthole the entire time of the ride babbling at everything that passed by. I strongly dislike...no hate...the Finding Nemo ride. It feels so claustrophobic inside of the submarine cab. That ride makes me feel nauseous.

Thankfully, Star Tours was a success. My husband and Lucas rode it twice. I think my husband did an internal happy dance when Lucas asked to go on Star Tours for a second time. He loved traveling through space and seeing Jakku. And while the boys rode Star Tours, Alara and I got to enjoy the park and walk around the shops.

All in all it was a successful day and I'm looking forward to our next Disney adventure.

10 months

Alara @ Ten Months
  • In addition to her regular baby babble, Alara says "Go," "Da-da," "Mama," "ba-ba," "high there" and "Bye-Bye."
  • She gets into everything. Is curious about everyone. And wants to go everywhere.
  • She loves being outside. Alara is happiest when she is exploring our backyard, nibbling on dandelions and chasing after Denny.
  • She is finally starting to sleep through most nights.
  • Alara's appetite for table foods is growing. If one of us is sitting down with food she is there...loudly demanding for a taste.
  • She weighs 18 lbs, 3 oz and is 2 and half feet tall.
  • She is starting to stand on her own. Usually, she stand independently for about 30 seconds. I've yet to snap a picture of her standing.

Golden Eaglets

Today we entered the world of team sports! Lucas had his very first Golden Eaglets basketball game. His jersey came down to his knees and we had to strategically tuck it in to avoid him looking like an overstuffed turkey. I was anxious to see how he would do. He looked so small out on the court with the other boys. As I sat on the bleachers, my stomach in knots I watched him dribble, shoot (and actually make) a basket, run drills and practice passing. For all my worrying, Lucas did well. He kept his hands to himself, listened to the coach and enjoyed playing with kids his age. It was a good start to the season.
