Snow Day @ Mt. San Jacinto State Park

Warning. This is a picture heavy post.

This weekend our family drove to Palm Springs and took the Aerial Tramway up to Mt. Jacinto State Park. It was a perfect day for playing in the snow.  The park wasn't crowded and the snow was clean. It felt good to be outside in the fresh air. Lucas had a blast playing in the snow; building snow balls, making snow angles and exploring the nearby woods. However, Alara lasted about 30 minutes before she was done and ready to go back inside. Thankfully, Dadi and Dada were able and willing to take her back inside while the rest of us continued to enjoy the day.

Alara's snow outfit was mine when I was her age. Lucas's pants were borrowed from a dear friend. Thankfully, my Mom kept everything and my friend's daughter had outgrown her snow pants. Finding snow clothes last minute for the kids was almost impossible! Everything in their sizes were either sold out or on back order...or crazy expensive. Next year I know to just buy things ahead of time...in the fall...and make pre-snow plans before the snow even thinks of gracing us with its presence.

While Lucas rested in the warm lodge, I took Alara back outside. She liked the snow better after round #2. She made tiny snow balls and enjoyed jumping in the snow drifts. All in all our first family snow trip was a success.

Till next year.
